Road,railway and water traffic
Šabac is a regional traffic hub fulfilling all the requirements to become a centre of integral transport. Traffic potentials of Šabac include favourable natural conditions for construction of traffic infrastructure, since 98% of the municipality consists of flat and hilly lands under 300 meters of altitude with little limitations for road construction. Other particular advantages include the proximity of the Belgrade-Zagreb highway, border crossings to Bosnia and Herzegovina, and the flight terminal in Surčin. Motorways intersecting at the territory of the municipality are M19 (Belgrade-Obrenovac-Šabac-Loznica-M. Zvornik) and M21(Novi Sad-Ruma-highway-Šabac-Valjevo-Užice). There is a well developed network of regional and local roads. The railway connects Ruma, Šabac, Loznica, M. Zvornik, BiH with a passenger and freight railway hub in Šabac. The municipality is located at the navigable part of the river Sava and is connected to the fluvial traffic system of Serbia and Europe.

Water traffic
Besides the river Danube, the Sava is our most significant waterway. The part of the river Sava running through Šabac is fully navigable, which allows Šabac, through the Danube, to connect with most navigable waterways in Europe and with the Black Sea. Traffic network and the geographical position treat Šabac very favourably, as well as the fact that there are no open ports and piers for international traffic on the river Sava in Serbia.
Gravitational area of the Šabac harbour includes the Mačva county, part of Srem, and the eastern part of Republika Srpska in Bosnia and Herzegovina. It is equipped for purposes of trans-shipment throughout the year and has two 5 and 6-ton cranes at its disposal. The port is also equipped with railway infrastructure and train engines.
